I have a Sony KV-M1400U and i can't find anywhere to tune it, it appears to not have a menu system. Does anyone know how to do this?

Jun 2, 2011 - It's an open platform for all electrical Electronic TV technology to have its. Sony removed the last Trinitron televisions from their product catalogs in. Instead of a coil, and required no after manufacturing manual adjustments.
- #2Have a look under the flap on the front panel. Usually there's a tuning button then '+' and '-' buttons for searching the analogue bands.
What are you trying to tune it in to? - #3Some of the Sony's of this era could only be tuned using the remote control - this may be one.....
One for Nigel Goodwin to advise further on methinks..... - #4You need to use the remote. I found these instructions on the net, though can't vouch for them myself:1. Press and hold down the [White Arrow Up] 'shift' button.
2. While held down press the UHF tuning button (symbol for button is ->).
3. Press + or - to tune up or down the UHF band as required, until the required station is reached.
4. Select a spare Channel Position.
5. Press [Arrow Up] & [UHF Tuning ->] buttons again to store and exit tuning. - #5Some of the Sony's of this era could only be tuned using the remote control - this may be one.....

I would need to check the manual (and I'm not at work today), some of the older Sony's had buttons under the front panel for tuning, some required a specific button on the remote, so you're stuffed unless you have the correct remote.
A quick google shows it needs the remote, and gives these instructions:At the bottom left of the remote there are 6 small buttons:-
1 2
3 4
5 6
We are only concerned with buttons 1 (Shift), 2 (Preset), 4 (+) and 6 (-) and the program number buttons - 1 to 0
Press buttons 1 and 2 (Shift and Preset) together. The program number will flash, and UHF||||||| will appear on the screen. Press the program number you wish to tune, Now press buttons 1 (Shift) and either 4 (+) or 6 (-) together until you find the desired channel. Press buttons 1 and 2 (Shift and Preset) together to store the channel. Repeat for any other channels.
Which sounds like soulboy77's instructions as well (just written a bit differently).
I always thought it was a crappy and complicated tuning method!. - #6Is now the time to be adding a Freeview box to the TV box as the analogue is being switched off?

Or binning the TV and buying a new one
There's really not much demand for 14 inch CRT sets.

When you need to adjust your Sony TV and require more technical options than the Home settings provide, you can access the Service Mode menu. Your Sony remote control enables you to access this menu with infrared signals. For example, the Service Mode menu for the Bravia 32BX3 includes 12 settings, such as Sound Adjust, Wide Band Tuner, Range Scan, Self-Diagnosis History and Status Information. Before you start tweaking these controls, know ahead of time what effect you require to make your Sony TV perform its best for your business presentation.
1.Power off your TV. Clear any obstacles between the remote control sensor on the front of your TV and your Sony remote control.
2.Point the remote control at your TV’s sensor and then press the following buttons one at a time in sequence: “Display,” “5” and the “+” volume up button. The Display button is located on the ring of curved buttons in the middle of the remote control.
3.Press 'Power' to view the Service Mode menu. Press the “<” or “>” buttons to navigate the menu.
Tips
- Press the “Menu” or “Home” button to exit Service Mode.
- With certain models, press the “I+” button instead of the Display button.
- If fluorescent light interferes with the remote control signals, turn off this light source.
Warning
- As a precaution, do not attempt to change these settings unless you know what results to expect.
